There are several dozen fully maintained ski centres stretched out across the corner of the Alps that extends into Slovenia. Each in its own way offers a full dose of winter enjoyment. Artificial snow machines ensure fun in the snow even during milder winters. The main advantage of Slovenia’s ski centres is that almost all of them feature direct access to and from the lowlands.
This easy access and the proximity of urban centres are enhanced by modern cable lift facilities. And the features that distinguish almost all of Slovenia’s ski centres are their small size and diverse terrain.

Fishing

In many of Slovenia’s rivers, good management means that the population is self-sustaining, a considerable rarity in Europe, where many species of fish are artificially stocked. One of the methods of maintaining natural fish populations is catch and release fishing. Fly fishers mostly favour this method of fishing, as artificial flies do very little damage to the fish.
Come and try fly fishing in Slovenia’s rivers and lakes, and be an example to your angling colleagues by practising catch and release. And have no fear, in the age of digital cameras, everyone will believe your tales of huge fish even if you do not produce the hard evidence of the caught fish.

Hiking

Well-preserved natural greenery can be found in Slovenia at almost every step. Even from the cities you can be on a hiking trail within a few minutes. It is therefore no surprise that hiking is such a popular activity. The choice of trails is remarkable: from easier short walks along the valleys and foothills, to highly challenging protected trails in the high mountains, where you can enjoy views of the Alpine peaks. There is something for everyone, but it is rare that you meet large numbers of people. Simply enjoy the peace.

Cycling

Slovenia’s exceptionally diverse landscape, with its countless sites of natural beauty, both strikingly evident and more subtly concealed, make it an ideal choice for biking holidays. Every biker can find a route that suits. You can never be bored on a bike in Slovenia. The influence of the Mediterranean climate means that biking can be enjoyed almost throughout the entire year. The exception is the Alps, which are a wonderful attraction in the summer, when overheating bikers can cool off.

Kayaking

In Slovenia you can hire a kayak to race down wild rivers or paddle on quieter rivers, lakes and the sea. On the rapids of the Soča, the Sava, the Savinja, the Krka and the Kolpa, kayaking can be an exciting adventure. Centres where kayaks and other equipment are available for hire will also provide an experienced guide to guarantee your safety. A guide is recommended even on Slovenia's quieter rivers. Interesting kayak trips are possible on practically all rivers – as long as there are no major dams or hydroelectric plants along your route.
Kayaking centres will also organise transport of kayaks.

Water Sports

Water sports and water activities in Slovenia can satisfy even the most demanding guest every day of the year. One of the most popular and accessible sports is swimming, with swimming pools  available in many thermal spas and hotels. Adventure sports are among the most enticing in Slovenia. If you want to go rafting or hydrospeeding, head for the River Soča. The Soča's smaller tributaries offer exciting canyoning.
