Castles
ptuj

In Slovenia there are dozens of castles, including many that have been renovated and converted into museums and hotels. A number of castles stand on hilltops, so they are worth visiting just for the fine views. The attractiveness of Slovenia’s castles is demonstrated by the fact that four of them are among the ten most visited tourist attractions in Slovenia. Bled Castle is popular for its exceptional views of Lake Bled and the surrounding mountains, Ljubljana Castle and its viewing tower reign over the capital city, while Predjama Castle, which is built into the rock and linked to underground caverns, is quite special among the world’s castles. And after touring the Old Castle in Celje, there are still many fine castles to visit in Slovenia.

Truffle hunting
istra

This tour will take you to Slovenian Istria, the largest peninsula in the Adriatic Sea where the tour begins with the tasting of Slovenian wines in a traditional cellar. Winemaking holds a long tradition in Slovenian culture and remains a symbol of pride for the country.

After this the tour will head to Slovenia's largest coastal city, Koper, where participants can see some of the fascinating ancient Koper highlights, such as the 15th century Praetorian Palace and the 12th century Carmine Rotunda church. After stopping for a delicious lunch, the tour transfers to a small village for an exciting truffle hunt! Travellers can partake in collecting the black and white truffles and will learn all about how these gourmet gems are sought out by the truffle hounds.

The tour only gets more exciting from here, with a transfer to a deserted village to taste the exquisite flavours of creased truffles and other truffle products along with typical Istrian wines. Travellers can engage with the local hosts and enjoy the authentic flavours of the region. The tour will take one more stop to another small village that offers magnificent views of the countryside, before heading back to Ljubljana.

Hiking
alps

Well-preserved natural greenery can be found in Slovenia at almost every step. Even from the cities you can be on a hiking trail within a few minutes. It is therefore no surprise that hiking is such a popular activity. The choice of trails is remarkable: from easier short walks along the valleys and foothills, to highly challenging protected trails in the high mountains, where you can enjoy views of the Alpine peaks. There is something for everyone, but it is rare that you meet large numbers of people. Simply enjoy the peace.
