Maribor is the second largest city in Slovenia, and completely different from Ljubljana and the western part of the country. It is located on the banks of the Drava River, in a hilly landscape between the vineyards on the foothills of Pohorje. See Maribor's castle, the mighty cathedral and the Franciscan church, the remains of the Jewish ghetto and the city walls, Lent with the Water and Judgement towers as well as the oldest cultivated grapevine in the world, the town hall and the plague memorial, narrow streets that were once busy with different trades, and enchanting town squares. Go down into the city's underground world where there is one of the largest and oldest classic wine cellars in Europe; here you can try selected wines, symbolic of the wine culture in this merry part of Štajerska.

PTUJ - MEDIEVAL MEETS THE PRESENT

The oldest town in Slovenia, Ptuj, is just a short drive from Maribor. Numerous archaeological remains show that the city experienced its first period of prosperity as the Roman town of Poetovio. The present, much admired appearance of the city originates from the Middle Ages, when Ptuj experienced its second rise to wealth and prominence. You will explore its beauty on a walking tour through the town and a visit to Ptuj Castle. The castle, Dominican and Minorite monasteries, Provost church and the old city hall are some of the curiosities of the town that are worth seeing. The heritage of past centuries will enchant even the most demanding visitor to this town. You will complete your visit by visiting the famous Ptuj wine cellar.

POHORJE - ACTIVE TOUR

Take a ride in the gondola to the top of Pohorje, where you will enjoy a magnificent view of Maribor and its surroundings. Next, you will take a nordic walking tour. For those who are less active, we suggest a visit to the natural and cultural heritage centre of Bolfenk, where you can visit the Church of St. Bolfenk on Pohorje (built in 1501) and admire the permanent exhibitions of cultural heritage. After this active tour, you will rest in one of the cottages on Pohorje, where you will enjoy lunch in peaceful and natural surroundings. Later, you will descend to the lower station of Pohorska vzpenjača, where the bravest of you can take an optional ride on the PohorJET, the adrenalin ride on the single-track line from Trikotna jasa to Snežni stadion, or you can spend some time relaxing or enjoy an optional horseback riding or mountain biking trip.

PREKMURJE & GORNJA RADGONA

Some centuries ago, there were over 40 floating mills on the Mura River, and you can still visit some of them on your way through Prekmurje. You will cross a river on one of the four "brods" still floating, visit the "Bürjaški" museum on the "Island of Love" and also taste a Bürjaška meal. Next, you will have a chance to see the straw wickerworkers at work and get to know the tradition of the potter's trade in the village of Filovci. In Bogojina you will see one of the many masterpieces of the famous Slovenian architect Jože Plečnik - the parish church of Christ’s Assumption. The next stop on our journey is the town of Gornja Radgona, famous for its sparkling wines. You will take a tour around the Radgona wine cellar and taste some of the best sparkling wines in Slovenia.

POSTOJNA CAVES & PREDJAMA CASTLE

Today we take you to Slovenia’s biggest and world renowned cave system - Postojna caves. This two million year-old and 27 km long system of subterranean caves is one of the most easily accessible network of underground caves in the world. A ride by electric train followed by a guided walk through a series of cave halls with drop stones, pillars and translucent curtains that create unforgettable impressions. The underworld system is home to the mysterious, unique and rare amphibian Proteus Anguinus, or human fish as it is popularly called here. Only 9 km away stands one of the most interesting baroque castles of Slovenia, the Predjama castle. It hangs dramatically in the middle of 123 m high rocky cliff. PORTOROŽ & PIRAN

When staying in capital, take some time to visit the Mediterranean world of the most beautiful Slovenian coastal town Piran, where you can admire its charming Venetian architecture. Our first stop will be in a small fishing town of Izola, where we board a boat to take us along the coast to Piran. A walking tour through the medieval town of Piran will take place and afterwards you will have plenty of time to take a swim in the Adriatic or have lunch in one of the numerous fresh fish restaurants. A contrast to the historic Piran represents Portorož, the most popular Slovene coastal resort, which you can discover during your free time.
