Plitvice Lakes

The natural beauty of the Plitvice Lakes National Park will amaze you. Sixteen large and small lakes cascading down travertine ledges over a period of ten thousand years.

Travertine forming plants, algae and mosses still
play an important role in creating a very sensitive biodynamic system.

The climatic change between the coastal and
continental areas with its consequent microclimatic diversity makes the summers pleasant and sunny while during winter the Park is dusted in snow.

There are large forestry complexes in the Park area and some sections are protected as special reserves of forestry vegetation due to their primeval characteristics (Corkova uvala virgin forest).

The diversity of living conditions within Plitvice encourages numerous species of plants and animals in the watery and terrestrial areas of the Park to develop without disturbance.

Equally so the very nature of this biodiversity makes
for a very fragile structural and functional complex, sensitive to natural changes and to incautious human actions.

UNESCO has declared Plitvice National Park as a World Heritage site of great importance Everyone should visit Plitvice at least once in their life.
